What is the purpose of International Master/slave Family of Contests?

I will take a shot at beginning to explain a very complex phenomenon by offering a little definition on what the Master/slave contests are. Those selected as International Master and slave by the judges are not selected on the basis of “hotness” or “coolness”. They are the pair that are felt to best exemplify the qualities that the judges feel a Master and a slave should have, and it is their hope that they will be effective representatives and able to encourage and teach others who are on the same path. Past winners of what we might call the modern (post 1999) IM/s title, include many presenters you will recognize from FolsomFringe and other leather events some of them are:

  • Master Steve of Butchmanns and slave kirk, IM/s titleholders for 2000 (multiple presentations at FolsomFringe events)
  • Master Jim Glass and slave marsha, IM/s titleholders for 2001 (multiple presentations at FolsomFringe events including keynote speakers for FF06)
  • Master Burt Cutler and slave nadine IM/s titleholders for 2003 (multiple presentations at FolsomFringe events)
  • Sir Stephen and slave catherine IM/s titleholders for 2005 (presenters at FF05 and FF06)
  • Mistress Suzan and slave ziggy IM/s titleholders for 2006 (presenters at FF06)

The title then becomes an entrée into the public speaking aspect of leather events. Titleholders are also ambassadors for the Master-slave lifestyle to the rest of the Leather community and to the larger world as well. Regional titleholders become ambassadors for their region and also bring back new information and perspectives to their region from their travels.
