Requirements and Expectations for Contestants and Titleholders
- Contestants must self-identify as Master and slave.
- Contestants must have been in a self-identified Master/slave relationship with each other for at least 1 year prior to running for the International Master/slave title.
- The contestants must be willing, should they win, to travel to a minimum of 4 leather/BDSM events or leather/BDSM group meetings to present on Master/slave relationships and/or to represent the titles. One of the 4 events must be the next year’s South Plains Leatherfest.
- The titleholders are strongly encouraged to attend more than the minimum number of events and to seek out every opportunity to speak on Master/slave relationships.
- The titleholders must be willing to speak on Master/slave relationships to all segments of the leather/BDSM community. In addition, the titleholders are encouraged to select venues and attend events that offer them the opportunity to speak on Master/slave relationships, rather than to simply appear as titleholders.
- The titleholders may accept additional monetary support from groups, event sponsors or individuals to cover travel expenses, and may raise additional money to cover travel expenses through fundraising activities. The titleholders may not receive payment above and beyond actual travel expenses for speaking engagements or other activities performed in their role as International Master and slave during the title year.
- The titleholders will be required to submit a quarterly report of their activities in support of the title and monies expended from the travel fund in support of those activities, and a final financial report on the use of the travel fund and any other funds raised or received during the title year to help defray travel expenses.
- The contestants run for and win the NorthWest Master and slave titles as a pair. Should one (or both) members of the winning pair become unable to carry out the requirements of the title, smOdyssey, Inc. will determine in what manner the title will be represented for the remainder of the year in question.
- If the titleholders are unable to carry out the requirements of the title, any unspent travel funds will be returned to smOdyssey, Inc., along with a financial accounting of funds that have been spent to date.
- During the title year, the titleholders may not accept fees for giving or receiving BDSM activity, whether sexual or non-sexual in nature.
- smOdyssey, Inc. reserves the right to recall the title from the current titleholders if, in its judgment, the titleholders have failed to substantially comply with or fulfill the obligations of the title.
The NorthWest Master/slave Travel Fundraiser
Contestant pairs are required to bring a basket of goods - large or small, valuable, thrifty, funny, unique, useful, etc., to be auctioned off during the contest weekend. A typed listing of all basket items with values must be presented to the organizers of the travel fund no later than two weeks prior to the contest weekend. The monies from all the Master/slave baskets go into the NorthWest Master/slave travel fund.
Please Note: We anticipate that many of our attendees will travel to and from the event by air, which may discourage them from bidding on large or heavy baskets. Thus, the producers of the NorthWest Master/slave Contest strongly recommend that contestant pairs include a UPS shipping certificate as a part of their baskets.
Winners’ Choice - Charity
The winners of the NorthWest Master/slave contest are expected to take advantage of their high profiles during their title year to engage in fundraising for a charity of their choice, community-based or otherwise. There is no specific monetary goal, only that an effort is made to use their appearances to a charitable advantage in some way.
